Appeal to help find missing local woman

Police have today provided an update following the disappearance of mother of three, Joanne Sheen, known as Jo.

Jo was reported as missing by her family on 22 February 2020.  The last confirmed sighting the police have of Jo is on Thursday 5 December 2019.

It was confirmed that Jo travelled back from Fareham to Southampton with a friend.  Between then and Christmas 2019, a number of unconfirmed sightings have been noted.

The police have continued to conduct enquiries into the whereabouts of Jo.  This led to new information recently coming to light, resulting in police carrying out a search under the pier next to Mayflower Park.

Officers from the marine unit conducted a thorough search over several hours, with items being found including some trainers and a handbag. These items will be examined further to establish whether they have any relevance to this investigation.

DI Toby Elcock, who is leading the investigation released the following statement on Facebook;

“We hope this search shows that we remain dedicated to finding out what happened to Jo and that we will pursue all lines of enquiry available to us.

Someone out there must know what happened to her. Please get in touch with us – no matter how insignificant you think the information you have might be, it could be that crucial piece in the puzzle that leads us to Jo.

She is described as being white, around 5 feet 1 inches tall, of slim build with long dark brown hair.

Anyone who has seen Jo or knows where she might be should call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting Operation Blackboard or 44200068330.
