Man charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of theft

A 38 year old Southampton man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female, and two counts of theft from a shop.

On 27 July, at around 9pm, it was reported that a man had taken items from a petrol station on Northam Road without paying. Further, it’s alleged that the man sexually assaulted a woman in her 20s over her clothing.

In addition to the above, and later the same night, another woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted over her clothing. This too was on Northam Road, with the man attempting to follow the lady home.

Sean Prendergast, of Orchard Lane, appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court today having been charged with the offences. He was given conditional bail pending an appearance at the Crown Court on 2 Septsmber.
