Eyewitness describes how car ended up on its roof

This evening in Portswood, there was a road traffic accident, which resulted in a car landing on its roof.

An eye witness to the incident has explained what happened;

“I was a passenger in my mums car, travelling down Portswood Road towards Waitrose.  A white Skoda was driving towards us on the opposite side of the road, until a red Hyundai Tucson came out of Spring Cresent at speed.

The Hyundai collided with the passenger side of the white Skoda, which resulted in the Hyundai flipping into the air and landing on the roof.

I rushed out of the car to go to the Hyundai drivers aid, thankfully the female was ok and was already exiting the vehicle, with minor cuts to both knees.

The other car had a male driver and young female passenger, they approached us with both of them having minor injuries.

The male was a endoscopy nurse at Southampton General, with the passenger only in Southampton for the day viewing a property.

I stayed with the young lady, helping to keep her calm whilst we waited for the emergency services.  The police were first on the scene, followed by ambulances and a fire engine.  Thankfully no one was seriously hurt”

Looking at the images from the scene of the crash, it’s very fortunate that no one was seriously injured. We hope all involved are not too shaken up.
