Four people arrested after cash and cigarettes stolen at knifepoint

Four people have been arrested following a robbery yesterday, 10 July.

It’s alleged that a man entered Tesco Express on Langdown Lawn in Hythe at around 10.25pm yesterday evening. He’s said to have approached a staff member, before threatening them with a knife.

The man then demanded cash and cigarettes from another member of staff before fleeing the scene.

Following enquiries, police attended an address on Maritime Avenue, Marchwood. Once there, they found three people in a vehicle and another in a nearby property. All four were detained.

A search of the vehicle and property uncovered quantities of cash and cigarettes. All items were seized pending further investigation, but it’s likely they’ll be used as evidence.

A 45-year-old woman from Marchwood, a 41-year-old man from Southampton and a 35-year-old man of no fixed abode were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Further, a 60-year-old man from Marchwood was also arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit robbery.

All four remain in custody.
