WATCH: Local captures firefighters tackling blaze at 7bone

You’ll have seen the incident relating to the fire in Portswood yesterday evening. Nigel Jones, who lives very close to the restaurant, captured footage at the time, and has kindly allowed us to share it.

The blaze itself resulted in more than 75 firefighters having to attend the scene. In all, 14 engines and additional specialist vehicles were at the site.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but investigations continue.

Incident Commander Rob Cole said:

“Our teams worked incredibly hard in hot conditions to aggressively fight the fire and prevent it from spreading to the adjoining premises.

“Throughout the incident we worked closely with our Hampshire Constabulary colleagues who closed off the surrounding roads.

“I’d like to thank the local businesses who provided our crews with refreshments throughout the incident on a humid evening.”
