Police issue update following assault in Southampton

Police have provided an update to a story we previously published, and we wanted to share that information with you.

We’ve included a link to the last story, but in short, a man in his 50s was seriously assaulted (with use of a glass bottle too) in Lower Bannister Street on Wednesday 2 March. Police put out an appeal to identify three males who were seen to be in the area at the time.

Since the appeal, police have arrested two men. However, they are still keen to hear from any other witnesses. This could be people who were there at the time of the incident, or in and around the area before or after the incident took place. Please refer back to the original story for more information.

For now, two males, one 25 and one 27, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. The 25 year old has been released under investigation.

The 27 year old has been given conditional bail until 28 June.
