Police pursue cyclist on the M3

A strange story to bring you this morning, courtesy of the police.

Shortly after 5am today, police were alerted and attended the area of junction 13 of the M3; this is the Eastleigh turn off. It was said that a cyclist was using the motorway.

When they arrived, the reports were confirmed, in as much that the cyclist was riding along in lane 2. There didn’t appear to be any desire to stop, despite the police presence, and in fact, the cyclist decided it better to move over to lane 3.

Given the risks, police had no option but to force the rider off the main road area. Once at the verge, the rider was detained.

Many will see humour in this story, but there could’ve been a very different outcome. Let’s hope the cyclist is dealt with correctly; the resources to deal with this could have been better served.
