Gang force owners out of vehicles in double car theft

Police are appealing for witnesses after two worrying car thefts in the early hours of this morning.

The thefts took place in Alma Road and Cemetery Road, both  located just off The Avenue, near The Common. The incidents happened around 1am this morning, 4th May.

In both instances, the owners were in the car at the time of the theft. A group of men forced the owners out of their cars and then drove off. The owner of one car also had his phone and wallet taken.

The two cars in question are:

69 plate, turquoise Audi A1

12 plate, black Jaguar F-Pace.

Via social media, Chief Inspector Ricky Dhanda said;

“This is a worrying incident which has caused distress to the owners of the vehicles.

We have stepped up patrols in the area and will ensure extra resources are in place in response to these robberies.

Our officers are working hard to locate those involved and reunite the vehicles with their owners, and we are asking you to help us.”
