Crackdown on off-road bikes

Police are keen to clamp down on youngsters riding motorbikes recklessly. They’re urging the public to report any sightings.

Many will have witnessed bikes being ridden badly both on and off roads. On many occasions, they’re being ridden where younger children are playing, or where families are out walking. The riders are not only putting themselves in danger, but every member of the public who dares to step outside.

In the last couple of days whilst on patrol in the Mansel Park area of Millbrook, police spotted the bike and rider pictured. We know it isn’t the best of images, but we’re certain someone will know who it is; be that a family member or friend – or perhaps just a ‘bro’ or ‘fam’ 😉.

We’re aware that this type of behaviour isn’t isolated to one area and we also know that it goes on quite a lot despite reports being made. If everyone continues to be vigilant and reports sightings, it can only serve to help.

On a positive note, at the recent Thornhill and Sholing PACT meeting, the police advised us of the decrease in activity involving bikes on Sullivan Rec.

After many complaints and it being brought up at the last PACT meeting, the police and the council are working to solve those issues; it appears to be working currently.
