Works to begin creating more parking spaces in SO16

We published a story last week about the Council’s plans to increase the number of parking spaces across different areas. They’ve provided an update, which will likely impact many from next week.

Work is to begin on Monday 4 April to create 13 spaces on Colne Avenue, SO16. The spaces will be created on what are currently grass verges, and it’s anticipated that it will take approximately four weeks to complete the work. Workers will likely be on site from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

During the works, the road will be limited to single lane traffic, meaning that temporary two way traffic lights will be installed. These lights will be on Lower Brownhill Road and North of Blakeney Road junction.

Parking close to the site of the work will be suspended in the interest of public safety. Cones will be placed there to indicate “no waiting” permitted.

It’s a positive step forward, but we hope people aren’t too inconvenienced during the four week period.
