37 year old arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 10 year old

Following an incident on Friday evening involving a 10 year old boy, officers have been conducting enquiries. They’ve now arrested a 37 year old male from Southampton on suspicion of assaulting a boy under 13.  

Police were called just before 10pm on Friday. A report had been made that a 10 year old boy had allegedly been approached by a man at the Daisy Dip football cage on Laburnum Road.

It’s alleged that the man tried to take the child by the hand, whilst speaking to him inappropriately. Thankfully the boy returned home without injuries, and he and his family are being supported by police.

The suspect remains in custody at this time, and the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. They’ve also been conducting reassurance patrols in the area.
