3 arrested on drug offences after police spot suspicious car

On Thursday last week, 1 September, police were successful in taking more drugs off our local streets.

Whilst on patrol around the Itchen View area of the City (SO18), an officer spotted a parked car with three occupants. This was shortly before 10pm, and it looked like one of the three was rolling a joint, suspected to contain cannabis.

The officer approached, and then searched the vehicle, together with those inside the car. He found packages of a white substance in the footwell and duly got on the radio to request assistance.

Further searches were made, with another 67 packages found. In addition, mobile phones, drug paraphernalia and a black crow bar were found. All items were seized and all three were arrested.

A 36 year old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of a controlled Class B drug. He was also arrested on suspicion of assault by beating, and attempted theft from a shop. This arrest relates to an incident that occurred back in July. The man was bailed to appear at the Magistrate’s Court at the end of October.

The other two occupants of the vehicle, a 43 year old male and a 38 year old female, both from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.  They’ve since been released under investigation.
