16 Year Old Charged in Connection with Assault on Bus in Bitterne

In a troubling incident on Friday, 10 November, at approximately 12:15pm, a 17 year old boy fell victim to an assault on the number 16 Bluestar bus in Bitterne. The assailant, a 16 year old boy from Portsmouth, reportedly approached the victim while wielding a knife.

The 17 year old was subjected to a physical assault, enduring punches to the face. Fortunately, the assailant exited the bus and fled the scene along Bitterne Road. Although the victim suffered facial swelling, there was no knife-related injury reported.

Prompt police response led to the arrest of the 16 year old suspect on charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possession of a controlled Class B drug.

Due to legal reasons, the identity of the accused cannot be disclosed. The 16 year old appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today, 15 November, where he has been remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, 20 November, at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
