13 year old arrested in SO16

Police were called yesterday evening to the area of Millbrook Towers. They’d received reports of around 20 youths (approx 12-16 years old) misbehaving. There were also several motorbikes being riden wrecklessly by youths.

On arrival, police started the process of dispersing the group. They were also able to identify a few who’d been spoken to about previous incidents. In turn, they’ll now start contacting their parents in line with their longer term plan to rid of this type of issue.

Frustratingly, the police were called back later into the evening following further reports. This time, a group of young people were climbing on and/or kicking the bus shelter.

One of the young lads was identified from CCTV, but he tried to evade the police on an e-scooter. This was to no avail though, as police were strategically placed. On catching him, it seems he may have also fallen foul to an irresponsible dog owner who hadn’t cleared up their dog’s mess; every cloud, as they say.

Needless to say, the boy was arrested and put in handcuffs. You’d think he’d have shown some remorse, but instead, police have confirmed that he just became more vile with his use of language; something that is an unfortunate growing trend.

It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time police have to deal with ASB. However, they are working hard to try and tackle it. It isn’t just kids being kids; it’s worse than that. We can only hope that in time, the number of incidents of this type start to fall.
