12 year old threatened with a penknife during attempted robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a couple of incidents in and around Redbridge School, Cuckmere Lane, around 8:30 this morning.

It was reported that a 12 year old boy was threatened with with penknife by an older boy, and was asked to hand over his bike. The young lad was not harmed, nor did he have any of his belongings taken.

Subsequent to that, the teenager followed a black Renault Clio into the school grounds. The car was being driven by a female who also had her two young children with her. He caused damage to the rear of the car by kicking it.

The boy is said to have then fled the scene on a yellow or lime green push bike.

Enquiries have been ongoing into the incidents, and police have also been working alongside the school. However, they would welcome any more information from the public should anyone have witnessed it at the time.

The ‘culprit’ is described as being 15/16 years old, white and of slim build. He was wearing a navy blue Nike tracksuit and a black coat. He also had a black balaclava.

If you know who this lad is, or if you have any information that could help, please pass it to the police via 101. Alternatively, feel free to contact us directly and we will pass it on for you.
